"Lion Rampant" on Redbubble

As I was going through my artwork on Redbubble, I realized that my "Lion Rampant Gules" appeared in my Redbubble portfolio, but my "Lion Rampant" (in gold/yellow) did not. I have now corrected that oversight. My "Lion Rampant" has now been added to my Redbubble portfolio, where it is available for purchase on prints, posters, shirts, stickers, phone cases, iPad cases, laptop skins, throw pillows, duvet covers, travel mugs, tote bags, studio pouches, drawstring bags, and notebooks.

Not All Home Schoolers Are Bad

Being a former home-educator who is rightly proud of his daughter's academic achievements, creative accomplishments, and social adeptness, I get annoyed whenever I see someone bashing home schooling in general. Not only am I proud of the way my daughter turned out, I'm also proud of the job I did as home educator. Sure, there are bad home educators out there, ones who make all home educators look like religious wack jobs, ones who make the general public think all home schoolers are poor educators, but let me just point something out here:
Not all blacks are criminals
Not all Muslims are terrorists
Not all home schoolers are religious wack jobs.
Not all home schoolers are poor educators.
Know what I mean?

Now Adding Artworks to Stuff on Society6

I am now adding my artworks to items available for purchase through Society6. I have already added my weird dark artwork "The Devourer Cometh"to prints, T shirts, throw pillows, tote bags, phone cases, and laptop skins. I will be adding more artworks soon, slowly but surely.

Canceled Payment

Grrr...I'm so mad at Zazzle at the moment. After being told via e-mail that the payment I was to have received this month was canceled due to changes I made to my payment details (it was not - I made the changes AFTER I discovered the payment was canceled), after being on hold on the phone for what seemed like an eternity, I finally received a more likely explanation for the cancellation of my June payment. Apparently, according to what I was told over the phone, Zazzle made some changes to their system, and sellers were required to update their tax info. Zazzle had allegedly sent e-mails notifying sellers of the need to update their tax info, but I don't recall ever receiving such an e-mail. I have now double-checked my tax info, and I should be receiving my payment next month. If not, if my payment ends up canceled again next month, I will be be closing my Zazzle account and Zazzle will be hearing from my attorney.

Going to be Paying Self-Employment Tax Again...

Thanks to a payment received tonight, my 2015 net income has already surpassed the $400 mark. I'll once again be paying self-employment tax (social security and medicare taxes) on the earnings from my art business. I see this as a good thing.

From the Self-Employment Tax page on the IRS site:
You must pay self-employment tax and file Schedule SE (Form 1040) if either of the following applies.
  • Your net earnings from self-employment (excluding church employee income) were $400 or more.
  • You had church employee income of $108.28 or more.

Depsite What Ursula K. Le Guin Asks, Buy Written Works from Amazon (At Least, Buy Mine)!

I see that Ursula K. Le Guin is asking people to refrain from buying books from Amazon.com:
Ursula K Le Guin launches broadside on Amazon's 'sell it fast, sell it cheap' policy
and:
Ursula K. Le Guin: “I keep Asking You Not to Buy Books from Amazon”

Well, as much as I love at least some of Ursula K. Le Guin's works, and as much as I respect and admire her as a writer, I'm going to keep asking people to do the opposite of what she asks. I'm going to keep asking people to BUY written works on Amazon, specifically, MY written works. I would like to think that my works are not complete trash, that there is some substance to at least some of the things I've written. My stories that I've republished through Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing were certainly good enough to have appeared previously in various small-press zines. At least one of them ("Vengeance of the Alpe") appeared in two different zines (the All Souls' Night 2010 issue of Hungur and then the April 2012 issue of Night to Dawn).

As for the argument that works self-published through Amazon are almost invariably published without benefit of editing, let me point out that all of my stories currently in the Kindle Store were supposedly edited prior to their original publication, not that they needed much editing. I certainly went through them again prior to submitting them to Kindle Direct Publishing.

When I was preparing 'Vengeance of the Alpe" for submission to Kindle Direct Publishing, I compared the file of the story to its edited version in the zine that originally published the work. I found all of ONE change made to the published version, a paragraph break where I had no break. As a matter of fact, I actually found and corrected one typo (one instance where I had typed "aple" instead of "alpe") that had made it into the published version.

Anyway, here are links to the stories of mine currently live in the Kindle Store:
